Don’t Wait for God’s Grace; Comprehend It

Although we don’t appreciate it, the Lord’s grace is at work at every moment of our lives. There isn’t a single moment passing without his grace being showered. But alias. We are oblivious to it. If we become aware of it, we will feel the presence of the Lord and his grace at each and every step in our lives. The more your heart is honestly engaged in service, and the more self-sacrificing it is, the more will you experience the Lord’s existence and his grace. The Lord’s existence and his grace beggar description, words are too inadequate to express it.

Atheism, which is equivalent to egotism or hedonism, has utterly confused today’s man, so much so that he denies the existence of God and thinks himself to be the all in all. He has conveniently forgotten that his body started with a drop of semen and will end in a fistful of ash. O man, Look at the beginning and the end of the body. Whatever happens in the intervening period is transient, which you will not be able to hold on to, however hard you may try. If some good deeds are being done by the body, it is on account of the Lord’s abounding grace. Yet you embellish you ego, ‘I have given two lakhs in charity to that institution… Now I am doing this charitable work… It is divine grace.’ You say it is divine grace, but whether you say so to erase or to embellish you ego donning the garb of modesty, you alone know. If you search your heart honestly, you will instantly attain to supreme good. The more you forego the pleasure of appreciation, approval, recognition and sense-enjoyments, and experience God’s compassion and grace, the more will you be entitled to receive his boundless grace, peace, bliss and eternal life.

Whenever you feel conceited of having something, that thing is snatched from you, or nature creates some problem in relation to it. If you are overly fond of somebody, differences creep into the relationship. And it must happen for your own good. Not knowing that auspicious law, we become miserable. At times, God brings adversity and troubles into our life in order to eradicate our ego and attachment. At other times, he brings favorable and convenient circumstances and comfort and fame to alleviate our despondency. If we utilize convenient circumstances and success to engage ourself in doing good to all, it will bring about our own development. If we make good use of adversity and despondency, that period of adversity will turn out to be an opportunity for increasing dispassion and removing our faults. It would indeed be an opportunity to awaken discrimination and dispassion, overcome our shorthomings and also move ahead with industriousness, courage, patience, tact and special alertness. This is his auspicious law. Lacking such thinking, we complain, ‘Why did God do this. Why did he do that?

If we analyze this, we will find that behind every misfortune is hidden an inspiration to be alert and watchful and that every misfortune is a harbinger of true bliss. Hidden behind every joy and luxury on the other hand, is vanity and misery. If we comprehend this thoroughly, both happiness and sorrow work to awaken us. But we are so native that we brood over past sorrows and make ourselves miserable. Even when fortune smiles, we mar our joy out of feat of losing it. We are miserable in happiness as well as in sorrow, in old age as well as in youth, at the time of birth as well as death, and all because we do not perceive the grace of the supreme. Everything will be just a game if we realize the nature of our self-soham I am that. For example, a wise spectator will enjoy the enchanting or horrifying scenes of fire, or the gushing waves of the sea on the cinema screen, but an ignorant one will be carried away by them.

Our supreme Lord is not a pauper that he has to keep us in the same state, same body, or same set of circumstances all the time. He has, for his dear children, 8.4 million species and billions of circumstances. He takes us through different circumstances and finally awakens us into our real nature. We should not wait for his grace. Waiting is done for what is not there at present; what is yet to come or happen. Appreciation or comprehension is done of what is already happening, we merely need to ‘see’ it with discrimination. But we lack this art of ‘seeing’; instead we ‘become’ something, habitually.

‘Seeing’ what happens is one thing, ‘becoming’ a part of the happening is another. ‘Seeing’ gives joy; becoming or being is painful. Look at the rich men… take joy looking at the Lord, the richest of the rich, abiding in them as their self. But if you become a rich man, you have to worry about the income tax. If you become a poor man, you have to worry about earning your daily bread.

There is no joy in becoming rich or poor, man or woman. Just play the part you are given – be it that of a rich man or a poor man, a man or a woman. Be a ‘seer’, not the ‘seen’.

There is no reason to lament or feel distressed. The almighty does what he thinks to be appropriate. Feel secure within saying to yourself, ‘The Lord is going to do only that which is in my best interest, which destroys my delusion, which takes me forward on the spiritual path. Who am I to complain.’ It is the mind which complains. Be alert and a witness to the complaining mind.

We think, ‘He should do what we want.’ Is God our appointed servant? We fail to appreciate how well he cares for us. Can our real good lie in God doing what we want? If things happen according to our wishes, that will increase our desires, our ego, and will tighten the noose of delusion around our neck; it will nourish the demon of attachment and the fire of hatred will start burning our heart.

If you pray for it, He gives you a spiritual intellect that can take you beyond the transient pleasures of the world and provides you with satsanga to enhance that intellect.

If you have attachment to the family, he brings some trouble in relationships. He wants you to march ahead on the path of progress. If your ego is inflated, he brings it in balance by pitching a strong opponent against you. If you are tired or despondent of frustrated, he gives you joy through a friend, or a near and dear one. He acts through a daughter-in-law to set a mother-in-law right and vice versa. The same applies to father and son and friends.

A ditty child doesn’t like to get rubbed and scrubbed while having a bath, but the mother knows that it is in the child’s best interest. The mother gives the child good clothes to wear and scolds it when necessary. She gives the child delicious food and makes it drink bitter medicine. She gives the child beautiful clothes to wear so that it looks beautiful and puts a black dot on the face to save it from the effect of evil eyes. The hearts of thousand mothers combined may come, if at all, somewhere equal to the heart of a saint or of God. A mother may be ignorant, weak or unintelligent; she may act out of delusion that the child will help her in her old age. But the Lord has no personal interests. Whatever he does, he does in you best interest.

Whatever happened was good, whatever is happening is good, and whatever will happen will be for the best. This is the divine law. Don’t complain, learn to be grateful. Learn to comprehend. Your life will move towards excellence; it will be illuminated.

Don’t let go of patience and courage in the face of troubles and impediments in life. See the Lord’s grace at work in the form of that trouble or impediment.

So never wait for God’s grace. Never think it is yet to come. Whatever he does is from his kindness; just find and appreciate it and develop the virtues of industriousness, courage, patience, intelligence, strength and valour, etc. within you. When what you want doesn’t happen, see God’s grace in it. When it does happen, see God’s grace there too. When you are praised and honored, see God’s grace. See God’s grace even when people torment you. It doesn’t mean that you should tolerate injustice however. Seeing God’s grace in everything doesn’t mean you should become idle and passive. Make appropriate efforts to improve the situation, but see God’s grace behind your efforts. Don’t allow your efforts to be driven by desire, hatred, egotism or escapism inherent in your disposition, let them be rooted in God’s grace. God’s grace is being showered incessantly; just find and appreciate it. It will make you life stress-free and equanimous. You may visit thousands of places of worship but unless you find and comprehend the grace of the Lord in you heart, visits to places of worship will serve no purpose. They will have served their purpose only when you start coming towards the Indwelling Lord abiding in the temple of your heart.

God’s grace is already being showered in innumerable forms and ways – in the form of medicines, in the form of sweetmeats, in the form of insults, in the form of inspiration to go to satsanga, in the form of a profound utterance in satsanga… If you are careful, you will find innumerable instances of God’s-grace being showered and your mind will be permeated with thoughts of the Lord. Then you will go on enjoying or suffering the fruits of your good and bad karma, but your heart will be in tune with the merciful Lord whose mercy you are seeing and appreciating. How simple is this approach and how sweet. If you are able to meditate, it is very good. But even if your mind doesn’t become quiet, complain to the Lord against it, ‘O Lord, See, my mind doesn’t become quiet. What should I do? It is for you to decide what is to be done. Your grace is being showered, still the mind is not absorbed in meditation. I am not at fault, I am sitting.’ Carrying everything to God in tears and stop insisting on claiming the mind down. Keep sitting and the mind will calm down. You can see this miracle happen. The only condition is – offer yourself to him honestly and comprehend his grace.

Saints Suffer for Others - Swami Pranavananda

In the Uttarakhanda section of the Sri Ramacharitamanasa of Goswami Tulsidas, Kakbhushandiji says, ‘To be charitable to others in thought and word and deed, O king of birds, is the innate disposition of the saints. The saints endure pain in the interest of others, but evil wretches do so to give pain to others. Tender-hearted saints, like the birch tree, submit to the direst distress (even allow their back to be torn off) for the good of their neighbors.’ (U.K: 120.7-8)

Whenever a saintly sun has risen, clouds in the form of opponents have tried to envelop him. Whenever saints have incarnated on this earth, they have suffered the storms of difficulties caused by cyclonic defamation. Therefore, the wise ones who wish India’s welfare and serve her culture, should remain united – it is time to put this idea of Madan Mohan Malviya into practice. But saintly souls have never given up their good wish and efforts towards doing good to the society. The good people have been elevated by them and as for the vile, the saints have either suffered quietly or admonished them in gentle terms.

When Guru Nanak warned such people, the slanderers left no stone unturned. They even instigated Babar to imprison Guru Nanak.

Ask any Sikh, “Was Guru Nanak imprisoned for any fault of his?”

The Sikh will reposed, “It was no fault of his but the fault of oppressors due to which the true Emperor had to go to jail.”

At that point in time, the environment was created as if Guru Nanak was at fault and so he was imprisoned. Devotees know that Nanak was not at fault, Kabir was not at fault, Socrates was not at fault and Mirabai was not at fault but they suffered on account of false accusations made by scandal mongers.

The slanderers outraged Tukaram terribly. Shivoba Kasar, who was a slanderer turned devotee of Tukaram, had invited Tukaram to his house for Bhajan. Observing that the husband was becoming a devotee of the saint, his wicked wife laid an evil plan. When Tukaram reached their house, he was invited to take a bath. When he sat down for the bath, the wife poured boiling water on his back.

Tukaram prayed to God, “Now you are my savior.”

Although the boiling water was poured on Tukaram’s back, boils erupted on the back of Shivoba Kasar’s wife. Lots of medicines were applied but to no avail. Then someone advised,

‘Make your fortune, if you can, by assisting the saints in their divine works. If you do not want to make your fortune why invite misfortune by slandering him. Now go and pray at the feet of Tukaram Maharaj. Bathe him with the water from the Ganges and apply the soil wetted by the water over the boils.”

Shivoba Kasar prayed to Tukaram and when the soil wetted by the bath water was applied to his wife’s back, the boils disappeared.

Had God and nature not been favorable to the saint or not been on the side of truth, the slanderers and opponents would pour so much venom against the saints and the religion that no one would like to become a saint on this earth. Nature and God co-operate in the saint’s divine endeavors and they punish the opponents severely. So thousands of slanderers came and died. The fame of the saints is spreading even this day. Faith and love for the saints is ever increasing in the hearts of devotees.

‘Those opposing the saints turn into owls for which the sun’s knowledge is extinct and they only embrace the nights full of delusion.’

Saint Kabir said,
‘O Kabir, those men are indeed blind
Who think the master is other than God
If the Lord is angry.
The Master is your asylum.
If the Master is displeased,
There is no refuge
In the entire creation.’
Sukhmani Sahib states,
‘The slanderer of the Saint
is the worst evil-doer.
The slanderer of the Saint
has not even a moment’s rest
The slanderer of the Saint
is a brutal butcher.
The slanderer of the saint is
cursed by the Supreme Lord.
The slanderer of the saint is
eternally in limbo.
He does not die,
but he does not live either.
Hopes of the slanderer of the saint
Are not fulfilled.
The slanderer of the Saint
departs disappointed.’

Extremely vile persons do not desire for Saint’s darshana. One whose sins have come to an end, can have unflinching faith in saints and sadhus. One who commits wicked actions increases his sins and he becomes an opponent of saints and sadhus.

If you want to know whether one’s family will grow or get destroyed, see if he has faith in the saints and sadhus or he is a slanderer of sadhus and saints. Find out whether the person is given to high thinking or base thinking.

Royal Treasury for Inculcating Samskaras

The royal court of the ancient king Raghu was in progress. There was discussion on a topic - ‘For what purposes should the Royal Treasury be put to use?’

One side expressed the opinion, “Military might is the foundation of a prosperous nation. So we must strengthen our military. Not only will this secure our nation, but also enable us to expand our territories. In the event of war, the treasures of the vanquished states will get accumulated in our Treasury. This will also strengthen the economy of the country.”

The other side said – “The expenditure of money should be towards inculcating good samskaras in the people of the kingdom. This will lead to self-restrained, prudent, courageous, wise religious citizens imbued with the spirit of Self-knowledge; each one of them like an invincible fort. The strength of a nation is not in its treasures but in its virtuous citizens. The strength of character can make even a small nation strong.”

After listening to the arguments of both sides, King Raghu proclaimed that the royal treasury would primarily be used for imparting education and samskaras to the people. His orders were carried out and as a result the people gradually progressed in all aspects. The neighboring states kept hearing about the character-might of the people of King Raghu’s kingdom and so they never even dreamt of attacking it. Influential people from other kingdoms also started migrating to his kingdom. King Raghu’s kingdom became prosperous in every aspect. Consequently, Lord Rama also took incarnation in King Raghu’s clan.

Best Use of Self Dependence

There are two maxims to be adopted in life:
(1) Correct use of self dependence.
(2) To keep away from dependence.

You have freedom to speak, whether sweet, bitter, truth or a lie. Speaking sweet is good and bitter is bad use. You also have freedom of thought. You can think about sense-enjoyments, about friends and foes and you can also think about the Atman and Brahman too. You have physical strength. You can misuse it for harassing others and you can also use it for the well-being of others, for the happiness of others ‘Bahujanhithaya – Bahujansukhaya’, or for self-defense. You are free to use your physical strength, faculty of speech and abilities that you have earned, in doing good to others, in meditation and in attaining knowledge; and you can also spend them in sinful acts driven by hatred and envy towards others. If you refrain from misusing your faculties, good use will follow, or if you make only good use of them, misuse will be avoided.

No one likes being dependent, we are always seeking freedom, yet all sense-pleasures entail dependence. For sensual pleasure, you depend upon your spouse. Similarly for all other sense-pleasures, you depend upon objects of sense pleasure. The dependent pleasures impair physical strength, intelligence, radiance, health and merits. The independent pleasures promote physical strength, intelligence, radiance and health. Self-Bliss is independent. You don’t have to be subservient to your wife or son for Self-bliss and you don’t have to depend on your father either. You can avail of Self-Bliss, meditate on your Real Self, and love your Real Self without any dependence on anybody or anything. For bodily love however, you need another body, and that body or your own body is vulnerable to disease and certain to die. Then there is the possibility of altercations and conflicts and you have to depart at the time of death. The joy from physical relationships is dependent. Do not opt for dependence. You will get rid of the allurement of dependent joy when you enter the realm of independent joy.

Some scholars hold the view that God has made the senses extroverted, therefore they are naturally attracted to external phenomena. But the experience of saints says that the senses are neither extroverted not introverted. If you move towards freedom and want to become introvert, the senses turn inward; and if you want to be dependent on others seeking dependent pleasures, the senses become extrovert. You seek pleasure is eating, seeing or touching same thing… there is nothing wrong with eating, seeing, etc. do so but only for sustenance, just like medicine, it should only be resorted to get rid of an undesirable condition. You have freedom to eat, but don’t make your stomach a storehouse. Similarly you have freedom to see; but use it for seeing worthwhile things and not obscenity and vulgarity. If you have the freedom to think do not nurture thoughts that will make you dependent on others. You are endowed with the sense of smell. It is up to you whether you smell scents and get aroused or you inhale the fragrance of flowers and incense offered to the Lord. The Lord says ‘I am the pure odour (the subtle principle of odour) in the earth…’

Punyo Gandhah Prithviyah cha….
(The Gita 7.9)

Make good use, not bad use of your relations. Good use of marital relationship is to encourage each other to spirituality, to nurture each other by observing brahmacharya and living a life of self-restraint and to beget lustrous children. Excessive sexual indulgence for the sake of carnal pleasure while preventing pregnancy by adopting various means is bad use of the relationship. It is also harmful to health.

Whether you put you possessions and your wealth to good use or bad use, you are free to decide. If you opt for Self-Bliss that is not dependent on anything or anybody, you will become free and independent in other matters too. And if you hanker after sense-pleasures and carnal pleasures which are dependent on others, you will become dependent in other matters as well. Please become free and independent. Your powers and the wealth which you have gained will increase and enhance all the more if you make good use of them. And if they are misused, they will bring misery. To misuse is to sow the seeds of misery. How simple and how easy! But the habit of improper use is very old. It makes the good use look difficult and therefore sadhana is required for that.

If you make good use of the freedom you have gained, you will become liberated and great. You will get the power to trample death. The shackles of birth and death will be broken forever and you will attain realization of the Supreme Self.

Why So Only with the Saints?

Various saints have condemned the false propaganda against Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu and expressed their firm belief in Bapuji.
1. Jagadguru Shankaracharya, Pujya Shri Madhavashramji Maharaj:
Pujya Sant Sri Asaramji is being harassed by making baseless allegations against him. It is harmful to each and every Indian. People should gird up their loins and take up the task of protecting our culture. The system of Gurukul should be spread far and wide. It is very difficult for us to do good to our nation without propagation of a Gurukul system. We warn those who are playing with our culture.

2. Balayogi Arjunpuriji Maharaj, Founder of Tulsi Manas Mandir Haridwar and Senior Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhada:
This is not something of recent origin. Our Pujya Sant Shri Jayendra Saraswatiji was engaged in sadhana when he was imprisoned without any reason. The case didn’t bear scrutiny of the court and he was acquitted. A few days ago, people targeted Ramdevaji who propagated yoga on an international level. The way Sant Sri Asaramji has spread spirituality amongst the massed is of course, unique and worthy of great respect; but no less commendable are his efforts at uplifting the backward areas and setting up Gurukuls. Rumours and surmises are being presented as facts and he is being falsely defamed. Bapuji is not guilty in any of the cases being alleged against him.

3. Mahamandeleshwar Pujya Harichetanandji Maharaj:
A big conspiracy is under way in this country. The allegations leveled against Bapuji are false and baseless. If the Gurukuls are closed, people of this country will be deprived of good traits. How can such people protect the country, society and Dharma? It is absolutely wrong to level allegations against this great saint who has dedicated his whole life for the sake of Santana Dharma, who is roaming from village to village and town to town to propagate the Indian culture and uplift the poor. Such a one, who has resolved to inculcate noble traits into millions of children, could never do harm to or think ill of anybody even in dream, let alone the waking state. Therefore, all of us should unitedly fight the oppressors.

4. Mahamandelshawar Pujya Shri Anand Chetan Saraswati:
Today, it is clearly observed that there are certain elements in the country who are against our culture and the noble traits it propounds. They want to destroy the cornerstone of our country. The saints form the base of our cultural edifice, its cornerstones, and the aim of the oppressors is to make allegations against the saints and against the Gurukuls to malign them so that they are wiped out. It is true that people live with selfish motives in the world, but a saint lives for others. Allegations are being leveled against out revered saint that children have been murdered. Let us think over this point. Who are the accusers? You will undoubtedly reach the conclusion that they are outside elements not Indians. Their aim is to machinate in such a way that the people lose faith in the saints which will automatically destroy the culture. I want to caution you – be vigilant; don’t be taken in by them. This is the best course for you.

5. The Head of Nirvana Pitha, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Pujya Vishvadevanandji Maharaj:
Our saints unite us with divine consciousness and thereby lift us above the hedonistic ego identity. Howsoever great may be the progress the west has made, it is aware of the fact that it is way behind Indian spirituality and its thinking is afflicted with feeling of an inferiority complex. That is the reason why attempts are being made to negate the glory of Indian culture, and it is being blemished in an organized manner as part of a well-planned conspiracy. Newer modes of calumny are being invented and the victims are our revered saints who are capable of illuminating not only India, but the whole world with their abounding glory. How to malign them and establish western culture and religious thought is the vision of the conspirators.

People have faith in the Guru who they believe can take them to God. When such great souls are targeted and calumniated, Indian society will lose its way. It is a conspiracy of mocking at the national pride of India. Our saints are always true.

6. Shri Shri Shiva Premanandji Maharaj, Mahamandaleshwar of Nirvanic Akhada and Head of Nijatmapremadham:
I came to Gurukul at a young age and hence have acquired some good traits. The unrestrained and meaningless propaganda against the Gurukuls being carried out today is totally wrong. Efforts are being made through slander, verbal attacks and other means to destroy Indian culture.

7. The Secretary of Niranjani Panchayati Akhada, Shri Trayambak Bharatiji Maharaj:
Today a saint being insulted. The saint is forgiving, but for the people it is a very disgraceful thing. The Gurukuls that are being run, the task of inculcating noble traits that is going on – this is an altruistic activity. Nobody should become an obstruction in this.

8. Anand Pithadhiswar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar, Pujya Shri Devanandji Maharaj, Shri Shri Bholanand Sanyasahram, Haridwar:
These people are after a saint who has devoted himself to the upliftment of society and the whole nation. The blame against the saint is a game being played to destroy Mother India and our culture. Today false allegations are being leveled against Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu. Bapuji is inculcating good traits into the children. Why would he have the children killed? This is a premeditated conspiracy. If the Hindu society, the followers of Santan Dharma, don’t put up a united font against this calumny, it is going to affect all. All the sadhus of all the sects and ideologies should fight it unitedly. If this is not done, this fire will engulf all of us. I is my humble submission that all the citizens of India belonging to whichever ideology, should stand up against this atrocity. We shall not tolerate this outrageous attack on Bapuji.

9. Shri 108 Mahamandaleshwar Shanti Giri Ji Maharaj:
Safeguarding of saints and of the Indian culture is safeguarding of the nation, of humanity and of noble thoughts. Howsoever hard the conspirators who want to shake the foundation of Hinduism may try to misinform people in a pre-planned manner, guarding against their machinations and determinedly endeavoring to fight the false and vicious propaganda is the need of the hour. It is the only way to safeguard virtue, to save humanity and the nation. Hindus will have to summon up courage and industriousness and take intelligent, united action to thwart the fierce offshore winds threatening to uproot our culture.

Who doesn’t know the altruistic activities and the greatness of Pujya Bapuji? Everybody should take advantage of that. Making or listening to malicious propaganda against such saints is a grave sin.

10. Mahant Shri Dhiraj Ji, Baba Balaknath Siddha Peeth:
TV Channels have carried some extremely senseless things against a saint (Bapuji), which I think is a severe blow. Before that these people tried to malign Baba Ramdev but nothing happened. And now they have targeted Bapu Asaramji. You see, this is not maligning of a saint, it is maligning of Indian culture. It is a big conspiracy of theirs; they are trying to completely destroy Hindu culture. We shall have to face them unitedly. Today this is being done to him (Bapuji), tomorrow it will be done to some other saint.
The language being used by the media is highly unpalatable; we strongly object to it.

11. Mahamandaleshwar Shri Sunil Shastri Maharaj:
There is one society, one religion – the religion of truth, the Sanatan Vedic Dharma and it teaches us, ‘Live and let others live’, ‘Non-violence is the greatest Dharma’. If this Dharma is extinguished, what will happen to the world? Therefore, don’t ridicule this Dharma. Otherwise, the entire universe will be annihilated. And don’t play with the spiritual potency. Do you have any idea what may happen if you do that? There are examples. Ravana fiddled with this power. What happened? ‘There was nobody in his tribe to mourn his death.’ In Lord Krishna’s time too, Dhritarashtra took the power of truth lightly and the result was the same. ‘There was nobody in his tribe to mourn the death of his sons.’ The Mughals took the power for granted and were finished. The Englishmen did the same thing and had to pack off from India. Similarly, I declare today that whoever will touch your Guru or our saint, will go not to a lowly state, not to the lowliest of the lowly states, not to hells but to a state more hellish than the hells. All of you should remain strong, formidable, united and should march forward on the path of truth under the guidance of you Guru for the sake of protecting the motherland. The blessings of the spiritual community are with you; it is with you; it is with you!

12. Dr. Ramaprapannacharyaji Maharaj, Dharma Jagaran Manch:
Highly revered Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu is venerable for we saints as well as for all of you. Today, he is being targeted for venomous attacks with the help of foreign conspirators. All of us should confront them unitedly.
13. Mahamandaleshwar, Swami Shri Devendranand Giriji Maharaj:
This country is agro-based and has Rishis as her speciality. Our Sant Shri Asaramji Bapu takes along the Indian traditions in entirety. We strongly decry the conspiracies being hatched today against Bapuji. The saints of the whole country are with you.

The Three Obstacles

There are three kinds of obstacles on the path of Self-realization:

Prospective obstacles Current obstacles Past obstacles
Past obstacles: You do want to tread the path of God-realization, but are constantly reminded of the pleasures you have enjoyed in the past, of a person having given you happiness, or of some good thing that you happened to possess at some point of time. Alternatively, you may also be pestered by the thoughts of having quarreled with, having taken a loan from or having lent some money to somebody. One does want to persue his sadhana, but then, he has some pending job, which he thinks is more important to be done first. Some good or bad thoughts may come to one’s mind when he sits to meditate on God. Aversion towards an unpleasant thing and attachment towards a good one keeps our mind occupied in the thoughts thereof. This is the prarabdha caused obstacle based on some past deed or experience; and is a big hurdle in the process of the mental modes assuming the form of Brahman towards attaining Self-realization and is removed through practice and dispassion.

A certain fellow renounced his house and belongings to become a recluse. The Guru instructed him in meditation and told him to meditate inside a cave. Ten days later, the Guru visited the cave and inquired him how he was progressing in his meditation.

“Guruji! Whenever I sit for meditation, I see a black buffalo. We had brought a new one to our house. When I served with fodder, it would look at me. I had great affection for it.”

The Guru saw that this fellow was attached to the buffalo. This is what is called past obstacle. The Guru knew what to do. He told the fellow to meditate on that buffalo only.

Then it didn’t take him long to achieve accomplishment in meditating on the buffalo. His mind got fixed on the buffalo. The Guru then revealed to him that the Soul of the buffalo was verily the same as his own Real Self, thus directing him towards Self-knowledge. This was an obstacle brought about by past impression.

Current Obstacles: Attachment towards sense-objects, dullness of the intellect, lack of faith and fallacious reasoning are the current obstacles. One with a weak intellect will not attain realization even on being blessed with the company of an enlightened Guru. To make the intellect sharper, chew some basil leaves, offer libation to the Sun-god, and practise Suryanamaskaras. Discrimination, dispassion, contemplation and meditation on the percepts of the scriptures will make the intellect sharp and eradicate attachment towards sense-objects. Faith eradicates stubborn insistence. The holy company and discourses of noble and saintly personages and incantation of the Divine name eradicate the current obstacles.

Prospective obstacles: If one is predestined to take another birth, then too he won’t attain enlightenment even if he comes by a Guru. As it happened in the case of King Bharata, who renounced his kingdom and practiced penance on the banks of the river Gandaki. But there he developed attachment towards a fawn and ultimately, he died remembering the same fawn. As a result, he had to take birth as a deer in his next life. But the austerities practiced by him did not go waste, by virtue of which, he observed fasts on Ekadasi days even in the body of a deer. He wouldn’t even eat grass. He then attained a third birth, in which he was named Jadabharata on account of being inactive and inert (Jadu). He attained liberation through knowledge. This was the prarabdha in the form of prospective or predestined obstacles.

A rare few are faced with predestined obstacles. The sadhaka should not feel discouraged by the thought that he would have to face such obstacles. What he should do is to keep eradicating the past and current obstacles through discrimination, dispassion and satsanga.

Altruistic Activities of Sant Sri Asaramji Ashram at a Glance

Self-realized Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu, the darling of the masses, is a great soul the sacred dust of whose feet is today sanctifying the land of India. The ‘Moksha Kutir’ (cottage of salvation) set up on the banks of the River Sabarmati in Amdavad in the year 1972 has today become a pilgrimage place for spiritual guidance in the name of ‘Sant Sri Asaramji Ashram’. Let us have a look at the various altruistic activities for public welfare run under the inspiring guidance of Pujya Bapuji.

Satsanga News

12th June was a historic day for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. On that day, showering the nectar of satsanga at Kathua, Dhamyal, Tapyal, Kuta, Ramgarh and Samba, Pujyashri finally arrived at the Ashram at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. As soon as Pujyashri arrived at the Ashram premises, He was given a grand welcome amidst rows of lights.

One can often see faith in idols in Jammu, the city of temples, but surging faith and devotion towards a living saint was witnessed at satsanga programs here too. Every heart was found to be reverberating with Bapuji’s song alone.

The first session of the satsanga program was for the students. Pujyashri enlightened students with techniques of strengthening intellectual faculties and of awakening 22 dormant potencies of the brain.

At the end of the students’ session, the students presented a dance of devotional tunes. Indra, the king of gods, was also seen engaged in rendering service. Whereas many virtuous men were engaged in this divine endeavor with their bodies and minds. Indra, the king of gods, showered rain on all the three nights proceeding the days of satsanga and provided relief from the scorching heat.

Purnima Darshan program was organized in Delhi and Amdavad. Poonam Vrat Dharies coming from nearby, and local satsang-lovers made the huge ground at Vivek Vihar Delhi look small. In spite of the scorching summer hear and love telecast by TV Channels a vast sea of humanity surged towards the satsang ground for having Darshan and imbibing the nectar of satsanga from the God-Realized saint. It is heart warming news that the thirst for truth and righteousness still exists in society.

‘Jogi Goraknath says one should have faith in a living saint.’

People coming in large numbers to have a glimpse of Pujya Bapuji in spite of the live telecast bears testimony to the great love and reverence in the hearts of people for their beloved Bapu.

Guru-Purnima Special

All festivals have their own significance. Janmasthami rings Lord Krishna to our minds, Ram Naomi reminds us of Lord Rama and Ganesh-Chaturthi reminds us of Lord Ganesha. There are festivals related to all the prominent deities, but Guru-Purnima is the supreme among festivals of Vedic Culture which inspires us to evolve from smallness to greatness, from untruth to truth, from perennial sorrow to Supreme Bliss and to walk hand in hand with the Supreme Lord. Other festivals are observed by you, but Guru-Purnima observes you.

Detractors cannot break the faith of true devotees, because a true devotee knows the value of the Self-Bliss and inner peace experienced sitting near the feet of the Satguru. Such a one knows the wealth the Satguru possesses. That alone explains why the disciples yearn for a glimpse of their Guru unmindful of the long wait in huge queues, not caring for food and water even.

Indore (MP), 28th and 29th June: The Guru-Purnima celebrations started at Dussehra Maidan at Indore. Lakhs of devotees uplinked their faith to the satellite of Supreme Knowledge delivered by the Guru. Satguru-lovers were found engrossed in meditation, and japa of Lord’s name. At one time they were drowned in inner peace, and at another they were absorbing the satsanga of Self-Knowledge.

Bhopal (MP), 1st and 2nd July: The second leg of Guru-Purnima celebrations was at Bhopal the capital of MP. Welcoming Pujya Bapuji, the chief minister of M.P. Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan said, “So far as our power and position is concerned, it is a temporary phenomenon. When I became chief minister my opponents said, ‘he was never a minister; he has become a chief minister straightway. He will not be able to get along.’ But with Bapuji’s blessing, I am still going. I have an interest in spiritually, therefore I try to attend satsanga as much as possible. Had I not been in politics, I would have been much more spiritually inclined.”

Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan felt blessed in the presence of Pujya Bapuji! Fortunate are the states that have such people for chief minister. People are not served by exploitation and accumulation of wealth in foreign banks. People are served by good work done with utmost integrity and a truthful heart. Blessed are the employees and spiritually inclined political leaders who render such service and fortunate are the people living in areas served by them.

Nagpur (Maharasthra), 4th to 6th July: The entire city of Nagpur was seen pervaded by Pujya Bapuji’s presence but the atmosphere at the huge Reshami Bagh ground here was like that of a Kumbha festival. The blessing of Guru-Purnima for the people of Nagpur was somewhat unique. One physically brave, mentally patient, and intellectually sober, i.e. healthy in body, happy in mind and having one’s intellect reposed in one’s true Self, becomes entitled to the blessings of a Satguru.

Anandi-Pune (Maharasthra), 8th and 9th July: A pious stream of Knowledge, devotion and love was seen flowing in Alandi, the sacred grove of Sant Jnaneshwarji in the years of yore. Lakhs of devotees imbibed the nectar of spiritually. It was not feasible for all devotees to have a close darshana of Pujya Bapuji, but always eager to fulfill the wishes of His devotees without them expressing them, Pujya Bapuji Himself went into the midst of the crowd. Many eyes were filled with tears of joy from listening to the ambrosial satsanga and from this kind darshana of Bapuji. All hearts became satiated and reclined into the silent imbibing of Satguru’s blessed words. Blessed were the people of Alandi! Blessed indeed was the land of Alandi!

Delhi (Rohini) 12th and 13th July: The gigantic Japani Garden of the National Capital looked inadequate in the face of surging crowds of Bapuji-lovers. Lakhs of devotees silently listened to His holy satsanga sitting in the pandal, and in addition crores listened to the satsanga sitting in their homes as it was telecast live.

Jaipur (Rajasthan), 15th and 16th July (till noon): Shrimati Vijaya Raje Scindia, chief minister of Rajasthan came to the two-day Guru=Purnima program here to get spiritual enlightenment through darshana and satsanga of Pujya Bapuji. Shrimati Scindia said, “Today, the state is heading towards progress because of the grace of saints. Man cannot do anything alone: the guidance and support of the saints is essential. Whatever I am today, I am as a result of God’s grace and the blessings of saints the blessings of saints can never fail to deliver.”

Children of Jaipur Gurukul presented a cultural program and filled all hearts with joy.

Amdavad (Gujarat), 18th to 20th July: In spite of the false and misleading propaganda carried on for the last few days and attacks by riotous mobs, lakhs of devotees availed themselves of Guru-darshan and satsang.

Pujyashri gave same instructions and got ‘Harad Rasayan’ pills distributed along with the Prasad so that the devotees may remain in the prime of health.

Pujya Bapuji said in satsanga, “The ancient Vedic culture of our country has always wished for the god of all mankind. The divine message of our culture is, ‘the whole world is a family’. I wish the Guru-Purnima festival of today to be the torch-bearer of good to all mankind, and I wish for India to regain the divine glory of its ancient past. Let all of us create mutual goodwill, extend mutual help and cooperation, work for universal good and be compassionate to those in pain. Let us wish that all men in the world live a life full of health, happiness and respect.”

My firm belief – He will be born to a virtuous family

“I am a Poonam Vratadhari since 2001. Through Pujya Bapuji’s satsanga and vicinity, I have always experienced peace and happiness in my family life. I admitted my child, Ramakrishna Yadav, in Chhindwara Gurukul in 2008 because Ramakrishna was Bapuji’s prasada and I wanted to offer my son for doing voluntary service for Bapuji and for society. Accidentally on 29th July, 2008, my son passed away.

I am not sad about the fact that Ramakrishna has passed away. Infact, I am happy that he was able to imbibe the samskaras of devotion, Yoga and Jnana in Bapuji’s Gurukul. The soul is ageless and immortal. With values imbibed in this life, his journey will be divine, and I have firm faith that he will be reborn in a virtuous family. I shall also educate my second son Shivam, who is now two years old, in Bapuji’s Gurukul.

These incidents are a conspiracy against Bapuji
and the Ashram

Chhindwara Gurukul’s student, Vedanta passed away recently. His mother, Puja and father, Krishna said, “We still have as much faith in the Ashram. Our daughter, Vedanti, also studies in the Ashram’s Gurukul and will do so in the future as well. If we had more children, we would educate them too in the Gurukul. It is very clear that these incidents are a part of the defamation campaign conspired against Revered Bapuji and the Ashram.”

‘Neem Oil’ – Propaganda Exposed

Neem oil is available at seva centres of the Ashram. The propaganda that is going on is that a child from Pune, Maharasthra drank this oil and developed paralysis. In reality, two years ago when this complaint had been voiced, the ‘Food and Drug Administration’ department’s government officials at that time got the oil tested in the laboratory and declared it completely safe. The following is the certificate:

(This proof reveals the defamation campaign plotted to bring disgrace to the Ashram.)

Ayurveda’s Precious Gift: Triphala

Triphala is made up of three high quality medicinal herbs: amla (Indian gooseberry, Bot. Embilica Officianalis), harad (Bot. Terminalia Chebula) and baheda (Bot. Terminalia Bellerica). Amla provides longevity. Harad functions as a protector like a mother, and Baheda works to purify the whole body. This makes triphala a precious gift for mankind from our ancient sages. It removes abnormal kapha stored in the body, digests amadosha (immature rasa) and waste products in the body making it pure and efficient. It removes dullness of the intellect and senses (especially the eyes) making them sharp. It prevents impotency and diseases. It functions as an excellent rasayana (promotive therapy), antibiotic and antiseptic. It improves the eyesight, expels faces, stimulates the digestive fire and destroys kapha and pitta. People who consume triphala and follow a disciplined life style with controlled eating habits, are saved from the possibility of having illnesses like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, eye diseases, abdominal disorders, obesity etc. It destroys twenty types of diabetes, different types of leprosy, irregular fever and inflammation. It strengthens the skeletal system, hair, teeth and digestive system, and its regular consumption makes the body disease-free, robust, light and energetic.

Even Pujya Bapuji takes triphala daily.
Recipe for making Triphala Churna:
Ingredients: Dry Native Amla, Big Harad, Baheda.
Method: Take equal quantities of the three ingredients. De-seed them and grind all three together to make a fine powder. After sifting through a thin cloth, store in a glass jar.

Medicinal Uses of Triphala
Eye Wash
Soak a teaspoon of triphala churna in a bowl of water at night. In the morning, wash your eyes with this water after straining it through a thin cloth. This remedy is highly beneficial for the eyes. With this, the eyes remain clean and eyesight becomes sharp. This eye cleansing therapy is very helpful in cases like irritation of the eyes, redness of eyes, watering of eyes and conjunctivitis.

Gargling
Soak triphala churna at night. In the morning, after brushing your teeth, fill your moth with this water. Rinse vigorously around the teeth and gums and then spit out. With this, gums and teeth remain strong through old age. It is beneficial to brush your teeth occasionally with triphala churna. By gargling with triphala water, as described, ailments like apathy, halitosis (bad breath) and ulcers in the mouth get destroyed.

Consuming a mixture of triphala churna, cow’s ghee and honey (more ghee and less honey) is a boon for the eyes. Along with disciplined living and eating habits, consuming this mixture prevents eye diseases like cataract, hyper mature cataract, defective vision, etc. Eyesight remains stable and keen throughout old age.

Washing a wound with a decoction of triphala prevents the need of using allopathic antiseptic lotions. The wound heals quickly.

Boil triphala in water. Take this mixture after adding honey to it when it is luke warm. This reduces obesity.

Triphala is very beneficial for all urinary problems and diabetes mellitus.

Constipation gets cured by taking triphala with lukewarm water at night.

Dosage: Have 2-4 gms of triphala churna with lukewarm water after lunch or at night. If you are unable to take this after dinner, you can even take it early in the morning.

Precautions: Weak and debilitated people, pregnant women and people with acute fever should not take triphala.

If you have to drink milk, then keep an interval of two hours between having triphala and drinking milk.

Foods which aggravate or pacify the three humors (doshas)
Among fruits, dates, amlas, harad, ripe desi mangoes, sweet pomegranate, sweet grape, ripe papayas and ripe tamarind pacify the three humors. Raw mangoes and sour grapes aggravate the three humors.

Beware of Malicious propaganda

From time immemorial India has never been bereft of great men. For the last 45 years the effulgent spiritual wealth of India, Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu has been traveling across the length and breadth of India imparting spiritual knowledge to awaken the masses. His life is a source of inspiration to millions. Under His guidance, some 1300 Yoga Vedanta Seva Samitis have been established, 300 Ashrams and 17500 Bal Sanskar Kendras have sprung up. Besides this Gau-Seva centers, de-addiction campaigns, prisoner reformation programs, and many other programs to support tribal people by providing them food, clothes etc. free of charge, are carried out. The number of Bapuji’s disciples is in crores across national and international boundaries, and His listeners are in even greater number than his disciples. His main contribution has been the revival of the age old Guru Shishya parampara. It is no surprise therefore that some people are jealous of his achievements.

There is nothing new in mind slinging at great men. There is a rumor being spread that Bapuji was a bicycle mechanic in the past. These slanderers have no right to publish such falsehood. To set matters right, we will recount the real history of our beloved Asaramji Bapu. He was born in the Sind province (of undivided India) in a well to do family of Shri Thaumaliji Sirumalani on 17th April 1941. From early childhood, his eyes were sparkling and his countenance radiant. During the partition of India in 1947, the family migrated to settle in Ahemdabad. He attended school only up to the third standard, but he was inclined towards Yoga and spiritual practices. Later, he helped his brother in running the sugar wholesale business, but mentally he was engrossed in God. During his pilgrimage he visited Nal cave in Mt. Abu, Kedarnath, Haridwar, Vrindavan and finally ended in the jungles of Nainital where he concluded his travels at the feet of Leelashahji Maharaj. While living in Siddhpur, his spiritual siddhis attained through intense sadhana became known and he came to be recognized as a holy man. At the age of 22 in 1962 he attained God realization. At that time he was accompanying his Guru in Vajreshwari near Mumbai, and at the Guru’s command. He set out to deliver spiritual discourses to lead the mankind on the path to God, and teach them to lead a physically and mentally healthy life and show them the way to attain peace and liberation.

It is the ignorant and the deluded people who compare different saints. The comparison is usually in terms of number of Ashrams, and followers etc. To evaluate saints on the basis of their income, and to search for the sources of their income is utter foolishness. If you want to compare the properties of religious leaders, why don’t you take all religious into consideration? If the religious trusts do not have money, will their critics or the government provide them with money for their divine works and philanthropic activities? Those who are detached from the world and who feel the whole world as their own being – is it right to evaluate their worth on the basis of financial strength? Whenever God and saintly men have incarnated on this earth, their enlightening discourses have been faithfully penned down by their followers. In order to propagate the discourses delivered by Pujyashree, Rishi Prasad, Lok Kalyan Setu, cassettes and CD’s, along with spiritual literature are produced and made available at very low prices so that it reaches the common man. Contents are drawn from scriptures such as the Gita, Bhagwat, Vedas and Upanishads. Rishi Prasad and Lok Kalyan Setu are purely spiritual periodicals giving guidance on how to lead a happy, contented and respected life, and how to attain Self-realization. It is not a commercial enterprise, as no advertisements have a place in the magazine. No donations are collected for it. Is this not a service to mankind? Is it justifiable to call this divine work of Bapuji as his property and source of income, insulting the religious people of India?

In fact it is very difficult to establish moral values in society, but extremely easy to oppose others. May God give right understanding to the people, so that rather than talking nonsense, they may appreciate the divine works of the saint.

Whatever products are manufactured in the Ashram like incense sticks. Ayurvedic medicines and soaps, are made available to the devotees at rock bottom prices; they are not sold anywhere in the market place. The news papers and periodicals opposing Indian culture who are spreading such rumors are committing the ghastly sin of destroying the faith of sadhakas when they misuse the freedom of press to publish that such endeavors earn Bapuji billions of rupees. It should be stopped. The magazines publishing that festivals such as Gurupoonam and satsanga programs earn billions of rupees for Bapuji, is an insult to the ancient Guru Shishya Parampara and the great festival of Gurupoonam. Pujya Bapuji is freely distributing the spiritual treasure of India throughout the country. No fees have ever been levied to crores who participate in the spiritual intensives of imparting knowledge and Shaktipat. To calculate this holy man’s income is utter stupidity. In fact, the marketing western culture tries to evaluate every activity in financial terms. For them, the values and bases of Sanatan Sanskriti are insignificant, rather, they are bent on destroying it. Such tendencies will never be forgiven by the religious minded people of India.

On 3rd July at around 8:30 in the night, two Gurukul students absconded, and their fellow students commented that the two students said that their parents would come to pick them up as they had planned to go for sight seeing. One or two days before, they had claimed that they wanted to attend the Rathyatra (chariot procession). The Gurukul authorities conducted a preliminary search and it was confirmed that the two boys were missing. This confirmation came at 9:00 P.M., and immediately they informed the parents at 9:15. Instead of appreciating the promptness of the Gurukul authorities in communicating the event, they are being blamed. Due to their selfish interests they are misleading the Vaghela family and unnecessarily vilifying the Ashram, and they are also creating a gulf between the Saint and the public. This will weaken the society and nation. When the Vaghela family did not themselves encourage violence, who were the instigators of the outrageous oppression on the innocent devotees? It hurt the religious sentiments of millions of people. The conspirers do not realize what great damage they have done to humanity.

Many dramatic changes occur in the lives of great men. Thousands become their followers and then leave them as an effect of their karmas, but does it cause any harm to these great men? Bapuji also had many disciples in his ashram. Many of them left him due to a change in their understanding and it is common knowledge that some school children take admission and leave in-between. Some even leave during their college studies. Great men always for the good of all-never do they wish ill of anyone. Such people who come and then leave, fail to recognize the great men and in the end repent. After leaving them, they then accuse and slander them, but did the detractors of Lord Mahavir, Mahatma Buddha, Meerabai, Guru Nanak, Lord Rama and Lord Krishna find any place in history? Such people continue to transmigrate through the misery of thousands of births. Many people join offices, factories, ashrams, political parties and organizations in the world, and some are expelled or suspended. If such people bad mouth the parent organization, what credence should be given to them?

Whatever Bapuji has today, belongs to the various trusts. They are registered public trusts and detailed accounts are kept and audited. Proper land records are maintained and due process of law is adhered to. The trusts have the rights over property, thus it is erroneous to project on TV channels and media that Bapuji and his disciples have usurped the land.
Why is the patience of Bapuji’s followers being put to such an extreme test? Why are you continually testing their patience? What purpose will be served by evaluating the lands in Delhi, Amdavad, Surat, Pedmala and Panched and declaring it to be worth many crores or billions? In this country thousands of trusts are running thousands of ashrams, hospitals, schools, colleges, temples, mosques, churches and gurudwaras, thus serving the whole society. Then why should anyone object to the ashrams built by the endeavor of millions of sadhakas of Bapuji engaged in social service where millions get peace, fearlessness, shelter, and noble thoughts?

During the Amdavad Gurupoonam program, conspirators and anti-social elements combined to pelt the devotees with stones, bit them with sticks, misbehaved with ladies (and disrobed them in public) and burnt and destroyed their cars and vehicles. In these circumstances, can the devotees remain merely mute spectators? If the devotees stood up in self-defense at being pelted with stones, we do not think there was anything wrong in it. People defending themselves against those hooligans were labeled as hooligans themselves. Why did the media not condemn the oppressors of the sadhakas? Amongst the lacs of devotees, if some lost their temper amidst these unjust attacks, is it right to hold the ashram and Bapuji accountable for that? Actually spreading half-truths is harmful to the society.

Millions of people wait for hours to have just a glimpse of the compassionate Bapuji who wishes only the good of all. To project him as a horrible violent Tantrik and inventing cock and bull stories against him to defame him is a grave insult, not only to crores of Bapuji’s sadhakas across the country, but also to the Indian culture.

The ‘Gurubhaktiyoga’, written by Swami Sri Sivananda Saraswati, which sheds light on the Guru-disciple relationship and ‘Panchamrita’ are great books of Sanatana Sanskriti. They contain teachings from the Vedas and Upanishads. Those making useless comments against these sacred scriptures are only giving proof of their debased mentality. It is not right to degrade or write denigrating articles against any religious scripture. In a secular State like India, every citizen has the fundamental right to practise his own religion. Nobody can question the authenticity of the incontrovertible principles of the traditional Guru-disciple relationship in Sanatana culture (which has been in practice since time immemorial), bit some newspapers and TV channels have gone to the extent of questioning this tradition. To project these scriptures as books which misguide a sadhaka, is a grave insult to the Indian Culture. Isn’t the false media propaganda a conspiracy? It is contemptible indeed. Do not incur, or make society incur sin by making false allegations against the saints.

The more the slanderers carry on their false propaganda, the more does the number of satsangis and people who come for darshana increase.

‘The devotees cannot be misguided
by misleading propaganda
Once they step ahead they
cannot be forced to retract.’

A conspiracy against the Hindus

We strongly condemn allegations that black magic behind these deaths (of Gurukul boys) and Bapu Asaramji is involved therein. This is a big anti-Hindu conspiracy. All of us should unitedly condemn and counter it.

Pious Memorable Quotes

Born to Shower Peace, Health and Happiness
“I have been intimately acquainted with my extremely dear friend Sri Asaramji Bapu for a long time. For all people, it is essential to have good physical health and peace of mind to enjoy a happy life. It was for showering the blessings of peace, health and happiness that the divine incarnation of this great saint has taken place. Bapuji, my beloved friend and clearly the foremost among the present day saints, has been ceaselessly traveling day and night for the upliftment of the Indian nation, Hindus, the common people, and in fact the whole world by enlightening them on various subjects through satsanga, bhajans, and kirtanas etc. His whole life has been dedicated to the cause of promoting health and mental peace amongst the masses. They are indeed blessed who carry out the divine work of bringing people to satsanga in the holy company of Bapuji
- Jagadguru Sri Jayendra
Saraswati Maharaj (The Sankaracharya of
Kanchikamkoti Peetha)

‘Every One Who has Lost Hope Needs ASHRAMJI’
‘Today I have been blessed with the darshana of highly respected and revered Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu who has elevated the hearts of, and bestowed peace to millions of souls. I have been filled with a great sense of fufilment by having the darshana of such a great, learned saint. How can I ever skip the opportunity to have darshana of that great soul, established in Divine Consciousness, who has reinstated dharma, culture, spirituality and the sublime Indian traditions back into this land with full force. It is therefore that I am feeling blessed and fulfilled by coming to this place. His affection towards me is in itself a blessing. The elders are always affectionate towards the youngsters. I have come here especially to seek His blessings.

“It is my understanding that probably every individual is dejected and frustrated with life and he needs the blessings of Asharamji (Asha = hope, Rama = the Lord), the Lord of hope. If some day the nation scales great heights and becomes prosperous and well developed, it will be solely through our ancient traditions and moral values and ideals, the awakening of which will be possible only by becoming Asharam, i.e. by becoming supremely hopeful. Therefore, revered and adorable Maharaj Sri ‘Asha’ ramji is the crying need of the whole world. With prayers at the holy feet of Bapuji for His guidance, through which I may keep following his footsteps and sure enough will reach the goal as well. I pay my obeisance at His holy feet once again!”
- Sri Ramdevji Maharaj, the renowned Master of Yoga.
Bapuji – an Absolute and Ever growing Fountain of Bliss
“This is not the first time that I have come for the darshana of highly revered. Pujya Bapuji. His pious darshana reminds me of the sloka – ‘Dine-Dine Navam-Navam Pratikshan Vardhmanam’ (Day by day it grows in intensity every moment) i.e. Bapuji is an ever new and every growing fountain of bliss which I am presently, and naturally

experiencing right now. Many obeisances at His holy feet.
- The Famous Kathakar Sant Shri Morari Bapu

Who gets the Satsanga on Self-Knowledge
“A human birth is attained only through the grace of God. The desire for liberation is attained through His supreme grace. Only when God’s supreme grace is coupled with religious merits accumulated over a number of past births does one get to listen to the divine satsanga on self-knowledge, as rendered by revered Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu.”
- Renowned Kathakar
Ms. Kanakeshawari Devi
Bapuji’s Company is akin to the pious stream of the Holy Ganga
“I am immensely delighted, exhilarated… blissful… and ecstatic…sitting in the pious vicinity of Pujya Bapuji on the holy banks of the rippling Ganga. The Ganga is the sushumna nadi of India. It is the sanjeevani (life giving herb) of India. The Ganga, emanating from Lord Vishnu’s feet, and making its way through the ‘Kamandulu’ of Lord Brahma to the tufted hair of Lord Shiva, is a bestower of perfection in the triad of yoga. She, having emanated from the feet of Lord Vishnu, gives a glimpse of devotion, and being situated on the head of Lord Shiva, inspires one to become established in the higher stage of Jnana Yoga. Today, while listening to Pujya Bapuji’s discourses, I feel like I am taking a dip in the holy Ganga, because His discourse and His company is like the pious stream of the Holy Ganga.

“He is a God-intoxicated saint, very natural and spontaneous. He is very simple externally, yet inside He is very occult and mysterious. He has the loftiness, the purity and excellence of the Himalayas, and serenity like the deep sea. He is an invaluable asset to the nation. His pious darshana reminds us of the great tradition of our ancient rishis. In him, we occasionally have glimpses of saints like Gautam, Kanaad, Jaimini, Kapil, Dadu, Meera, Kabir, Raidas, etc.

‘He is the real Satguru,
who can reveel the form of the Formless to
the vision of these eyes:
The infinite dwelling of the Infinite
Being is everywhere :
in earth, water, sky and air:
Firm as the thunderbolt,
the seat of the seeker is
established above void,’

“We are sitting in the vicinity of such a rare one who establishes one effortlessly in yoga. It is of such saints that someone has aptly said:

‘When you move, the earth,
the sky and the whole universe
move in tandem…’
“When such a great man moves, the sun, the moon, the stars and the planets naturally become favorable to him. When we sit hear the pious feet of such a saint, who is beyond the senses, beyond the three qualities of Nature, Transcendent, beyond description and beyond all states of consciousness… the Bhagwata Purana says, Sadhunam darshanam Loke sarvasidhikaram param. ‘In this world, the darshana of saints endows one with all accomplishments.’ Just by having the pious darshana of a saint one is blessed with Self- enquiry, manifestations of divine power, learning, strength, spontaneity, non-attachment to sense objects, cheerfulness, siddhis and Self-bliss.

“All the great saints of India are naturally drawn to this place. Also, all Shankarcharyas of India come here. Therefore, it naturally occurred to me that I too should go to the place where all go, for this verily is the place where one can get one’s ego annihilated. The darshana of such great saints not only blesses one with joy and bliss, bit also grants everything one desires, cherishes and aims to get. Here I am seeing in their personification, the noble virtues of compassion, industriousness, discrimination, dispassion and knowledge. If today the holy Ganga is seen with a form, it is in the form of thoughts and eloquence of Pujya Bapuji. This is the large pandal, where I find blissfulness, spontaneity, loftiness, excellence, purity, the sacredness of a pilgrim center, as well as the child like simplicity, the vigor of the youth, the serenity of the elderly and the enlightened of a Rishi. What should I call it – the city of Bliss or the city of Love? An ocean of compassion or a sea of sublime thoughts?... But one thing I must admit, is that every chamber of my heart is enraptured. All of you are greatly fortunate that you are sitting at the holy feet of such a soul, where one’s fortune is made and divine personality is developed. This is the place, where you can attain the true fulfillment of life.

‘On attaining You is
attained the goal of life,
the objective and the purpose.
Without attaining You, the goal,
the objective and the purpose
- all remain unattained.’
“I am astonished and at the same time enraptured seeing your Kingdom of Love and sublime sentiments. In my opinion, Pujya Bapuji is the Sun of everybody’s Soul. Please accept my salutations so that I may be blessed with an ever-increasing and unflinching faith in You.”
(Swami Avdeshanandaji, Haridwar)

The Magic of the Divine Name
“Throngs of people come and listen to Sant Sri Asaramji Bapu. The reason is that He possesses the magic of the chanting of the divine name, simple behavior, sweet affectionate eloquence, and on top of all, the answers to the fundamental questions of life.”
- Leading ascetic Saint,
Shri Vamdevji Maharaj

“Swami Asaramji Bapu gives us the outlook to eradicate delusion.”

- Yugpurush Swami Shri
Parmandaji Maharaj

“Sri Asaramji Maharaj possesses such spiritual power, that through a mere glance of His, he paves the way for lakhs of people to open their eyes of Knowledge.”
- Renowned Swami Shri
Brahmanandagiri Maharaj

Let the Media Show the Saints’ Altruistic Activities as well – Sadhvi Ritambhara

A well designed and well planned conspiracy has been undertaken at an international level against the saints of India. One or the other issue is sensationalized every now and then – some time it is an alleged murder, then it may be the allegation of money laundering, and at yet another occasion, there are attempts to destroy the respected mission of a yogi to create a disease-free world with the help of yoga, and to level vicious allegations of his medicines containing bones. A deep reflection reveals that all this is nothing but the ghost released from the bottles of multinational companies like Coca Cola, which has been exposed by saints like Baba Ramdevji. After His revelation, the sale of ‘Coca Cola alias toilet-cleaner’ received a huge setback, at least of India. This was bound to lead to some conspiracy or the other being hatched against the spiritual saints of India.

I have full respect for journalism. It holds an important place as the fourth pillar of democracy. But I want to ask my journalist brethren a few questions. Have you ever shown the alertness and alacrity with which you carry out your ‘sting operations’ to check on alleged money laundering, to capture in your ‘sting operation’ cameras, the endeavors of saints of India to uplift the tribal people, and the less fortunate sections of society living in forests and hills? Do the lights of your cameras ever flash on the untiring efforts of saints to fight the darkness of poverty and helplessness with the lamp of their philanthropic activities?

Round the clock, and with nauseating repetition, you are showing to the people of this country ‘sting operations’, the truth of which is yet to be verified. I want to ask – have you ever shown a free medical aid camp organized by a saint in a hospital round the clock? Have you ever focused your cameras on the temples of parental love and child care set up by saints with untiring effort, where endeavors are being made day and night with a purely selfless motive to inculcate good traits in neglected and destitute children?

No… You do it only rarely because there is no sensation in this. If at all you show these things, you will dispose of the matter showing a documentary for a few minutes. I am not leveling allegations against the media, but some bitter incidents are recalled to my mind as to how news in collected and video footage recorded to spread sensation. Even today I can recollect the fearful and horrifying incident of self-immolation of an anti-reservation student that I saw on television news – the student being engulfed by fire after setting himself alight by pouring petrol on his body, and the cameramen running after him in a bid to film the incident? Just imagine what a horrible scene it would have been! 4-5 people are running after him trying to film the helpless student. Nobody took pity on him; nobody thought of throwing a bucket of water on him to put out the fire. I want to ask – had the student been a son or brother of one of the cameramen, would he still have continued to film when he was caught in flames? Where do you want to lead this country by showing such horrifying ‘exclusive photographs’?

Today, when India is heading towards becoming a Vishwaguru (world leader), a vicious attempt to destroy the ancient cultural values of India, even now possessed by the saint community of India, is being made. Taking advantage of Hindus’ liberality, the places of Hindu pride are being attacked. Try to make a comment on Muslim or Christian faiths and their followers will instantly take to the streets. I want to make a submission to the electronic media personnel – do a ‘sting operation’ on a cow being slaughtered and show tit repeatedly on your channels. Tell the people of the country what a great contribution this slaughtered this slaughtered cow had in the economy of the nation!

Do a ‘sting operation’ on the Madrasas where the poison of hatred is being infused into the veins of the new generation in the name of religious teachings. Show the valour of ‘sting operation’ in the deep forests and hills, where hungry tribal people are proselytized for a handful of rice. Turn your ultra-modern cameras, once in a while, to the simmering north-eastern states of the country, where fires of separatism are being fanned.

This is my humble submissions to the journalist community of India. You know very well what types of vicious efforts are being made at international level to alienate from the masses, the saints, who are determined to preserve and maintain the integrity of India, saving her from cultural degeneration. I ask you to track the conspiracies that are a foot to eliminate a saint who brought into light the poison in Coca Cola. Painting a negative image of the whole community of saints is unjustifiable and the media has the responsibility to halt those efforts.

Hindus Awake, Conspirators Go Away

‘Protect Indian Culture
from getting Blemished’

TARGETS OF CONSPIRACY:
Param Pujya Jagadguru Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati: - renowned Yogacharya Swami Ramdevji Maharaj: - sages and saints belonging to Supremely revered Swami Narayan’s Organizations:- renowned Sri Satya Sai Baba:- Ma Amritanadamayee (Amma) :- Jagadguru Sri Kripaluji Maharaj and now:- Param Pujya Sant Sri Asaramji Maharaj

Who will be next? …. ? ….

JUST GIVE SOME THOUGHT
 Why are saints who protect Hindu culture being demeaned? … ? … ?
 Don’t you think this is a conspiracy to make Hindus fight amongst themselves?
 Awake, Hindus! Just reflect about who the conspirators could be…
 Who is managing the show behind the curtains by controlling the media, thereby promoting infighting amongst the Hindus and destroying Hindu culture?
 Is this is a conspiracy by anti-religious forces that convert Hindus by force?
 Before the verdict of the court has been announced, who is creating such havoc about Sant Shri Asaramji Ashram?
 Why are attempts being made to blemish the image of respected Sant Asaramji, who has made such efforts to promote Hindu culture within the country and abroad and who is respected and worshipped by crores of disciples?
 Why is hatred being spread for Sant Asaramji and his disciples within Hindu society?
 The fathers of children who were killed have declared, “We don’t support any kind of bandh, we do not want violence and unrest.”

Then who is promoting the idea of having a bandh regarding this incident? Who is causing violence?

Where was this associations called ‘Jagega…’ asleep before the incident? Where did it suddenly appear from after the incident? This too is a question.

Who is making these attempts to repeatedly destroy the calm of peaceful Gujarat?

My sensible and intelligent brothers and sisters! Just think about these issues. You will arrive at the conclusion that this is a well-planned conspiracy. The above-mentioned saints, who are being accused, are responsible for opposing the negatives in Western culture, which degrade society. They make people aware of the losses involved in consuming alcohol, having bad habits and following wasteful fashionable ways. They make public the dangers involved in consuming cold drinks and other unhealthy food items. They oppose religious conversion, do social service, lead people onto the path of truth, spread peace and happiness, give people a spiritual bent of mind and make them patriotic.
By accusing these innocent, respect-worthy saints and sages, conspirators are trying t create a distance between them and society. So many of our own people, without knowing the actual truth, end up supporting and helping these anti-religious forces that are enemies of the country.

Those who are promoting bandhs, taking out rallies, tearing posters, those who attacked countless disciples who came on Guru Purnima day to Amdavad with stones and looted them, why aren’t they taking out bandhs for the 60 harmless people (there were 8 innocent children also) who were killed in the bomb-blasts?

If everyone is saddened by the deaths of children studying in the Gurukul, then even before the verdict of the court is out, why are false, baseless accusations being put on Sant Asaramji Maharaj? We all have to understand that behind this act of killing the children, is a well-planned conspiracy to destroy national peace and to promote infighting within society.

May we all oppose the conspirators and support and respect these innocent saints through these difficult times.

Whatever is being shown and spread by the media is not the truth. We people have known the truth, understood the truth and examined it with firmness and thoroughness. All the accusations against Sant Asaramji Maharaj are absolutely baseless. They are only rumours. This is a big political conspiracy intended to destroy the peace within Hindus. Please inform the conspirators that we Hindus are all one. Hindus will not fight amongst themselves.

From the Author’s Pen…

A misinformation campaign has been launched by certain sections of the press and electronic media about the Ashram lands. The facts are given here:

The Ashram at the Delhi ridge is an annexe to Hanuman temple set up by Baba Balaknath’s ‘Manokamanasiddha Hanuman Mandir’ Trust. The same trust is running the Hanuman Mandir. Baba Balaknath and Bapuji were friends. Later it was alleged to be disputed land and the case went up to the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Now the Ashram is carrying out altruistic activities in conformity with the Apex Court orders. Sadhakas and thousands of people go there to have darshana of the ancient temple.

The land of Rajokari Ashram has been bought from farmers and stone Crusher-owners. Free education and wholesome food is provided to the children of Rajokari village. There is a shed for cows where service is rendered to cows. A cow-shed, free medical services, free education and food to children-not publishing such philanthropic activities, some anti social elements are fooding misinformation to the society and to the authorities. Why should you endeavor to detail the altruistic activities by your false propaganda? Why should you throw impious bones into the sacrificial pyre?

The land at Surat is alleged to be worth 80 crore rupees by some, and 125 crores by others. The government sold his land to the Ashram 10-12 years ago. Payment was made to the Government at the market price of the land plus interest at 12% for eight years. The market value of this land after leveling, development and construction – 1625 feet long retaining wall, Shiva Mandir, Hanuman Mandir, Baal Sanskar Kendras etc. – is estimated to be worth 3 to 4 crores as mentioned on page 47 of the order of Hon’ble High Court. Therefore, the false claims made about the value of the land are revealed by this.

The land purchased 10-12 years ago is hardly worth 4 crores, even with constructions raised on it! And it is a known fact that prices of land go up with time. In any case, the property belongs to the trust.

Thanks to the good deeds and merits of the people of Surat, all the bombs were detected and defused and the evil designs were thwarted. Surat was saved from a disaster.

‘Where good sense prevails,
all wealth follows.
Perversities bring only
Trouble in the end.’

Chhindwara Gurukul is under the Shakti Trust which belongs to Gyanada Devi, and the trust also has some old trustees. Those who run the Gurukul devoting their physical and mental efforts and wealth to the endeavor, should be commended and praised, and the students, teachers and trustees of his school (in a tribal area producing 100% results) should be thoroughly encouraged.

Why do you misinform and misguide people against those rendering service with all their physical mental and financial resources? Why do you cause distress to the administration and the public? Why do you discourage those rendering selfless service? Misleading propaganda harms the nation and depletes its strength, and it is in the interest of the administration and the public not to fall prey to such false propaganda.

The rocky hill (100-150 acres of land) at Pedmala (Gujarat) was purchased from a farmer and proper documents are available. A small part of the land is used for housing cows and growing fodder for them and for serving the local poor. Why do you incense the administration and the public by putting ‘billions of rupees’ value on this land which, with all the constructions, is hardly worth even 1 to 1.5 crore rupees? The transfer of the land was as per the procedure prescribed by the law and it is a known fact that the rocky, hilly land is of low value. Even at present it is not worth much in value. The Ashram management is ready to offer the land which you claim to be worth billions of rupees for just 1.5 crores, along with the constructions which are in the name of sadhaka parivar with the only condition that it should be used for altruistic purposes – service to the cows and the poor should continue.

‘Land worth billions or rupees… disputed land…’ it is neither worth billions nor disputed. And those bent upon it can create disputes anywhere. Again we submit that false and misleading propaganda harrows the administration and the public. Why do you incur the sin?

- Sushant
