In Rama Charit Manas, Lord Shiva describes Lord Rama as the Supreme Brahman and if you ask Lord Rama about Lord Shiva’s greatness, He says, ‘Lord Shiva is the Eternal Truth.’ The divine quality of not seeking to be respected and giving respect to others is witnessed and giving respect to others is witnessed in the lives of masters like Gorakhnathji as well. There have been instances between Gorakhnathji on the one hand, and Ravidaji and kabirji on the other, which have been describes say these are a sport of the great yogi, Gorakhnathji. Gorakhnathji is a perfected being possessed of great psychic powers akin to the Lord Himself.
At times, parents show deference towards their children. Similarly, great men sometimes give respect to lowly people. By giving respect to Ravidasji and Kabirji, Gorakhnathji displays his own greatness.
Naradaji is a disciple of the Rishi brothers, Sanaka and others, but when they incarnate themselves in the form of Prahlad, they say, ‘The celestial sage Naradaji is my Guru. He instructed my mother and I too listened to the precepts. It is through that teaching that I have attained maturity in Knowledge.”
So, Rishi Sanaka and His brothers who were perfected beings and bestowers of Knowledge, declared themselves to be disciples of Naradaji when they came in the form of Prahlad. Who is greater, Naradji or Sanaka and His brothers? Perfected beings and Knower of Ultimate Truth are all same. There is none great or small among them. Greatness and smallness is in the world of duality. Established in the non-dual Reality, they self-realized saints consider themselves to be embodied and bound and the rest as the Supreme Being. They therefore treat the other self-realized saints as superior to them and in the same way the other Self-realized saints give respect to them. For example, in the ‘Shiva Purana’ Lord Vishnu is His devotee. In the ‘Vishnu Purana’ glories and praises of Lord Shiva are sung and Lord Vishnu is His devotee. In the ‘Vishnu Purana’ glories and praises of Lord Vishnu are sung and Lord Shiva is His devotee. We should never think of God or God-realized saints as small. If they do something like Lord Krishna such as carrying Draupadi’s sandals or washing the saitns’ feet and picking up plates they have eaten from, it is their greatness. It is God’s Godliness. Gorakhnathji is an accomplished yogi and has perfectly realized the Ultimate Truth. And the world knows how much good he has done to mankind.
