“Holi’ is a pious festival which signifies the Indian culture. It is a beautiful occasion to forget mutual ill feelings and to express feelings of sympathy and cooperation, is a sacrificial fire where in oblation of evil tendencies and vices is offered. It is a festival of unleashing the joy divinity, humility simplicity and the joy of spontaneity hidden with in.
We have been celebrating this festival of Holi since accident times. Lord Shiva had burnt Cupid on this day and Holika who had a boon to remainunburnt even in fire took Prahlad on her lap and entered into the blazing flames. Holika as hunt while prahlad endowed with Bhakti succeeded in singing the song of immortality meaning thereby that he was not affected by blazing fir on account of his innocent devotion.
Thus this festival gives the message that the righteous persons should not fear the tamarisk evil person howsoever mighty and powerful he may be. The noble persons may seem to be little ones like prahlad still they should march forward taking refuge in God.
Any adversity or hurdle doesn’t have the guts to oppress Me; the world it existence to me not I to it. This festival is naturally romantic as the season is changing. In the Vedic times extract of the flowers of palash (butea frondosa) was used to confront the scorching rays of the sun which shatters the body. This was a plan for maintaining the imbuing and balancing the seven dhatus and colours present in the body. The palash flowers nourish our body mind intellect and digestives system. The one who eats food on the leaves of palash also gains health an merits and it aids in augmenting his sattva guna (purity).
Chewing 2 black pepper along with 15-20 soft leaves of neem for 10-20 days during this season change ensures a robust heath thought out the year. the person who takes salt less diet for 15 days sets joy and longevity enhanced. Consumption of hkhajur (date) is prohibited after Holi.
The Holi night is one among the four auspicious great night which endows one wit merits. The japa and jagram (keeping ) vigil on the night of Holi is very beneficial gives immense fruits. Thus everyone should take the benefit of acquiring spiritual merits by keeping vigil and doing japa all night. This in not only the festival of colours. It awakens inner consciousness, inner repose and love of the inner self.
Hiranyakashipu sister Holika had been blessed with the boon that she would rain unhurt even infirmed. Holika was made to sit with prahlad in her lap in the pyre which was get on fire. But what a surprise the blessed Holika was burnt in the fire while prahlad come out alive Reverse happened because prahlad had taken refuge in Truth in Lord.
Saint say that Prahlad stands for the jiva Hiranyakashipu stands for blind ambition desires keep inciting man to remain engaged in the samara. Holika represents ignorance avidly which keeps the Jiva sit on her lap and wisher to blaze him in the fire of the three kinds of affection. If Prahlad i.e. jiva seeks refuge in the lord and sad guru them the law of nature is changed with her blessings. The fire of the threefold affliction gets transformed into the fire of Knowledge. Holika which reprints ignorance gets reduced to ashes in the fire of knowledge and jiva (Parhald) gets liberated. This is the symbolism
Holi is the festival of colours. Do play but with the Guru jnana
The knowledge imparted by the guru. You play Hoil with chemical colours every year. Dye your heart with the Colour of Gurujnana this times. If you do that you will also say. Now let us start a new life. Let us help the poor and down trodden, exploited ignored the harassed the illiterate even the lowest person in the society .
