Utter Such Words

There was a prince. He was extremely arrogant and ill behaved. He used to utter only harsh words every time he opened his mouth. People were absolutely disgusted by his misbehavior. The king tried his level best to make him understand but all in vain. The king turned totally hopeless and finally one day he went to a saint. The king humbly bowed to him and put his saying before him. The saint consoled him saying don’t worry, everything shall be all right.
Only a few days had elapsed when the prince also went to the same saint for darshan. The saint said to the prince, Go and pluck same leaves of that plant and bring it here. The prince brought leaves. The saint further asked him to eat those leaves.
As soon as the prince put the leaves into his mouth, He spit it out becomes of it bitterness: At once went and uprooted that plant and threw it away.
The saint asked “Why? What happened?
The prince replied the leaves of that plant are very bitter. It is worthless and so rooted it out.”
The saint smiled and said. Dear prince, you also use such unpleasant words for people. It they too being agitated by your misbehavior do the same as you misbehavior do the same as you did with this plant then could you imagine the outcome it? See child Sweet and benevolent words give joy, pace and love to others and bring the same for oneself in return. Never utter such words which hurt anyone sentiments or cause any king of harm to another.
Every person needs affection love sympathy and respect. Thereby never display a behavior accompanied with discourtesy or malice rather always put up a demeanor of sym thy and benign love.
The prince realized his mistake and taking heed of alive of the saint he changed his behavior. By putting the saint advice into practice the prince becomes the favorite of all his subjects and earned a lot of fame.
Speak such words a would make the mind ego free:
Soothing to other and to oneself they be. The crow doesn’t rob anybody nor does any thing the cuckoo give.
The latter sends only words sweet; and wins the heart of all,’
While talking to family members, you must keep in mind at the person you are taking to is not a am machine, robot or statue, But a human being with a heart. Every human heart needs affection, behaving respectfully with elders, affectionately with younger ones has a miraculous impact on the atmospheres in the family.
Just as a ship is a means to cross the sea in the same way truth is a staircase for reaching the higher echelons of the spiritual world. It is better to remain quitter then to engage in useless talk. This is the first virtue. To speak what is approved by Dharma is the fourth virtue.
